Youth for Global Responsibility

The purpose of the international project Youth for Global Responsibility is to encourage civic participation of young people and strengthen their responsible approach to their community, region and society through volunteer service in the global South and related educational programs.

The main objectives of the project lies in the effort to prepare high-quality volunteers before leaving for the project to developing countries and especially in pursuit of their support and education after return to the CR. After obtaining volunteer experience young people can realize their own educational and training activities and thus contribute to raising awareness about global issues and the Millennium Development Goals.

Project content feature the various activities in the field of global development education in the form of preparation and training seminars for volunteers, lectures and discussions, happenings, international youth meetings. The second pillar of the project is organizing international conferences and regional meetings aimed at exchanging experiences and knowledge between experts and organizations engaged in international volunteering, capacity building and raising quality standards in international volunteering. The project also includes creation of an international web portal http://contribute-to-change.eu, that should facilitate orientation in this field to those interested in international volunteering, both professionals and lay public.

The project initiated by the Senate Chancellery in Hamburg coordinates organization Cultur Cooperation e.V. from Hamburg, the other partners except INEX-SDA is a Danish organization Danish Church Aid and the Copenhagen Youth School and the Estonian organisation EstYES.

 

INEX-SDA implements following activities:

- Volunteers Club DoK, which aims to create a space for meeting, sharing and support for volunteers and active people in implementing their own initiatives and projects. Volunteers club will also offer the opportunity to learn and develop their skills and creativity in the thematic working groups and the cycle of educational seminars.

- Training seminars for volunteers, where they can actively develop their abilities and skills in areas such as teaching skills, project management, fundraising, critical thinking, use of new media, etc.

- Eyelet to the world - regular meetings with the public. Vvolunteers, who are accompanied by photos, music and traditional dishes present their volunteer experiences in different corners of the world.

- Preparatory workshop for international volunteers To the World and Volunteer meetings aimed at high-quality pre-departure training for volunteers and providing opportunities to reflect on their experiences and plan their own development educatianl activities.

- Participation at the European Youth Camp in Hamburg - the international meeting of volunteers from Norway, Denmark, Great Britain, Ireland, Germany, Estonia, Czech Republic, Tanzania and South Africa, who previously attended various international volunteer programs in the global South and in Europe. - regular publication of Newsletters summarizing current events in the project, the current edition in English can be downloaded here

- publication Guide for volunteers in the global South, which should contribute to better preparation and support for people who are planning to go to projects and internships in the global South. The publication was created in cooperation with the Czech Forum for Development Cooperation FORS.

- Organizing an international conference on "Quality Standards and evaluation methods in international volunteering," which takes place from 25 to 27 October 2011, in Prague Mayor's residence. The conference will bring together experts from the representatives of NGOs, research institutions and representatives of volunteers from several EU countries, Africa and the Czech Republic dealing with professional international volunteering. International project Youth for Global Responsibility initiates Senate Chancellery in Hamburg and the German NGO coordinating CulturCooperation. e.V. Other project partners include the Association of INEX-voluntary activities, the Prague City Hall, the Danish NGO Copenhagen Youth School and Dan Church Aid and the Estonian NGO EstYES.
